RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:                     

                     Approval of the Resolution.

 

ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     This agenda item will authorize a professional services contract with LJA Engineering to provide planning and engineering services for the dog park and play zone area at Towne Lake Park, in a contract amount of $340,305 and not to exceed $350,000.

 

                     The newly completed master plan for Towne Lake Park identifies this area as the Play zone.  While this zone has numerous master planned amenities, this contract will provide design services specifically for the dog park, parking, trail work, and the “play” area which includes sand volleyball, horseshoe pits and yard games. 

 

                     Additional phases of the master plan are anticipated once additional funding is secured.

 

                                                                                                                              

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     LJA was selected from a list of pre-qualified landscape architectural firms that Council approved on July 19, 2022.

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY: 

                     This project (PK4393) is a FY22-23 Capital Improvements Program funded by MCDC and Parkland Zone 4 funds in an amount of $648,302.

 

                     Upon approval of this item, $88,302 remains in the project.

 

BOARD OR COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: 

                     The Park Board unanimously recommended approval of this item at their October 13th meeting.
