ITEM SUMMARY:
It was just after 8 p.m. on July 2nd when Casey Judkins’ five-year-old son ran and told him something was wrong with mommy. Casey’s wife, Andrea Judkins, was passed out on the sofa. She was not responsive. Casey Judkins immediately called 911 to save her life. You are hearing portions of that harrowing call here.
McKinney Police Public Safety Communications Specialist (911 Dispatcher) Mike Smith was on the other end of the line that evening. He swiftly proceeded to walk Judkins calmly and expertly through telephone CPR on his wife, who had suffered a cardiac event.
Today, Mike Smith was honored with a Life-Saving Award for his work that night. The award was presented during Resuscitation Academy McKinney at the Collin College Conference Center. Jessica Harris, Regional Emergency Medical Services Manager for Baylor Scott & White, says, “We would like to recognize you for being one of the most crucial pieces in why a woman's life was saved. This woman lived, has no deficits, and has a second chance at living a full life with her family because of you!”
Please join us in congratulating First Responder Mike Smith on his award. We are very proud of your work and the selfless dedication you showed that evening!
