ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     McKinney Community Development Corporation approved a Project Grant # 23-02 on February 23, 2023 for rooftop signage at The Flour Mill in McKinney.

                     One sign will be installed on top of The Flour Mill to promote and draw visitor focus on one of McKinney’s landmark buildings.

                     This request is for costs of up to $30,000 for additional verbiage on the sign to add the word “McKinney” on a new top line. Two sign designs are being presented as options for consideration.

                     Additionally, the request includes engineering costs of $1,000 for work associated with installation of the new design and for electrical requirements for the lighted sign to be time-managed by an automatic timer.

 

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     The McKinney Flour Mill opened in 1872 and is now a historic gem and focal point in the heart of McKinney’s East Side and Historic Cultural District.

                     The venue hosts corporate events, weddings and other celebrations in its unique event halls.

                     Additionally, The Flour Mill is home to several local businesses.

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY: 

                     Funds allocated for MCDC discretionary Project Grants for FY23 total $2,177,223.00, and $1,960,385.50 in funds remain unallocated.

                     The request is eligible for MCDC consideration under Section 505.152 of the Texas Local Government Code - Projects related to museums, entertainment and exhibition facilities.
