ITEM SUMMARY:
• Provide an update to City Council on the activities of the Mayor’s Task Force on Homelessness
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• Mayor George Fuller first convened the Mayor’s Task Force on Homelessness on June 24, 2019
• Since that time, the Task Force has grown to include new partners and service providers as homelessness in McKinney and around the country has increased
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• City Council has provided $175,000 annually for the past two years to combat the effects of increasing rents and evictions, domestic violence, incarceration and untreated mental illness and drug dependency, that has led to an increase in homelessness
