RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:                     

                     Staff recommends approval of the proposed right-of-way abandonment.

 

ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     Staff received a request to abandon a portion of an unnamed alley located south of First Street and north of Pearson Avenue, approximately 130 feet east of Waddill Street.

                     The right-of-way consists of an area 15 feet wide extending from First Street to 343 feet south and containing approximately 0.167 acres.

                     A variable width Access, Utility, & Drainage Easement is retained by the City of McKinney over the entirety of the vacated right-of-way.

                     Public hearing notices were sent to all property owners within 200 feet of the requested abandonment, and a legal notice was published in the McKinney Courier-Gazette. As of May 3, 2023, staff has received no comments in support of or opposition to this request.

                     All owners adjacent to the right-of-way have signed a petition supporting the requested abandonment.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     An application and supporting documentation for the requested abandonment were submitted on November 25, 2022.
