RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:

                     Approval of this Ordinance.

ITEM SUMMARY:

This Ordinance will approve a selected name of Coughlin Parkway for the arterial road extending from Custer Road (FM 2478), adjacent to Aster Park residential development, and continuing eastward through Trinity Falls Parkway.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Based on the proposed One McKinney 2040 Comprehensive Plan, this arterial roadway is part of a future 6-lane divided arterial that will ultimately begin approximately at Custer Road (FM 2478) and extend eastward to a point east of Trinity Falls Parkway to the eastern McKinney City Limit.

This future arterial will also be adjacent to the southern edge of the Trinity Falls subdivision that currently ends at Trinity Falls Parkway. This portion of the roadway is FM 543 and is currently maintained by the Texas Department of Transportation.

The developer of Aster Park is constructing a portion of this arterial roadway that begins at the future Stonebridge Drive and extends eastward through the planned Aster Park subdivision.

The developer of Aster Park will be responsible for filing the Plat for Coughlin Parkway within Aster Park and for the installation of all street name signage along the portion of roadway which they are constructing.

Staff will make any necessary changes to the Comprehensive Plan documents and to the McKinney mapping system ARCMAP reflecting the name of Coughlin Parkway.

FINANCIAL SUMMARY:

No funds will be expended as part of this item.

BOARD OR COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION:

The City Council Sub-committee has recommended the name of Coughlin Parkway for the arterial that begins approximately at Custer Road (FM 2478) extending eastward, adjacent to Aster Park, and continuing eastward through Trinity Falls Parkway.
