ITEM SUMMARY:

 

                     On Tuesday, August 22, the McKinney City Council will appoint members to the various city Boards & Commissions.  Unless noted otherwise, those appointed will serve terms effective October 1, 2023-September 30, 2025.

                     To be considered, interested individuals (including incumbent members with terms expiring in 2023) must complete an application and participate in an interview.

                     The deadline to apply is Friday June 16, 2023. Apply online at <https://mckinney.granicus.com/boards/apply>. Incumbent board members should use the email address on file to update their existing application.

                     Interviews will be conducted in July / August, and all approved candidates will be contacted to confirm their schedule.

                     Prior to October 1, new and reappointed members must complete Open Government Training and any related training as assigned.

                     City Staff promote Boards & Commissions participation by providing information online and through social media, publishing and distributing print materials, presenting information at board meetings and community events. City Staff will provide information at the upcoming Serve McKinney event hosted by the McKinney Chamber of Commerce on June 13, 2023, at The Collin College Central Park Campus Conference Center.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

 

                     Every year, approximately half of all McKinney Boards & Commissions appointments expire, with those vacancies filled by City Council vote.

                     Appointment terms last two years. Board Members can serve up to two (2) or three (3) consecutive terms, depending on their respective board.
