ITEM SUMMARY:
• As a result of House Bill 1819 adopted by the Texas Legislature and signed into effect on September 1, 2023, juvenile curfew ordinances are no longer enforceable.
• Article VIII, of Chapter 70 “Curfew Hours” of the Code of Ordinances, City of McKinney, Texas (“McKinney Code”), falls under this definition.
• The proposed ordinance will repeal and delete this Article and Sections of the McKinney Code.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• The previous ordinance was adopted on May 18, 2018 and renewed May 15, 2021.
