ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     Administered by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program, supports local governments through funding, to make quality of life investments in housing and community development, to principally benefit low-to-moderate persons and the community. The program celebrates its 50th anniversary this year.

                     The National Community Development Association (NCDA) and the CDBG Coalition, encourages outreach efforts with local government participation for National Community Development Week, held annually in April.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     The week of April 1 - 6, 2024 serves as National Community Development Week. The Mayor of McKinney and the National President of the Community Development Association will kick-off the celebration of remembrances now through August 2024.

                     CDBG at work improves housing, neighborhood improvements and provides investments in education, senior and youth services, employment training and support, counseling, and other public services. In McKinney, now through August, 2024, the City highlight impacts of this program.
