ITEM SUMMARY:
• Approval of an ordinance to amend the FY24 Annual Budget and the 2024-2028 Capital Improvements Program to provide funding for the purchase of a Police Department Command Post Vehicle.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• Due to the growth in both the City of McKinney and the McKinney Police Department, the need for a Command Post Vehicle has been identified. This vehicle will be used to provide a centralized location for major incident planning and response for critical incidents, active attack situations, and large-scale events including the Byron Nelson Golf Tournament.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• Total cost for the Command Center is $1,366,917.
• Funding of $450,000 from the Law Enforcement Fund balance from DOJ Equitable Sharing funds and the remaining amount of $916,917 from the Public Safety Improvement Fund balance.
• McKinney Police Department intends to use an approved cooperative contract to procure the equipment.
