RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION: Appoint a member to the NTMWD Board
ITEM SUMMARY:
• The term for sitting NTMWD Board Director Don Paschal will expire May 31, 2024. The City Council may re-appoint Mr. Paschal or appoint a new Director who will serve June 1, 2024 to May 31, 2026.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) was established in 1951 and provides water for 13 Member cities: Original ten cities of Farmersville, Forney, Garland, McKinney, Mesquite, Princeton, Plano, Rockwall, Royse City, and Wylie; and Richardson (1973), Allen (1998), and Frisco (2001).
• Cities with a population greater than 5,000 appoint two members to the board; Cities with populations less than 5,000 appoint one member.
• Board appointments are two years in length.
• McKinney Directors are:
o Don Paschal was appointed February 21, 2023 to a partial term which expires May 31, 2024. Mr. Paschal has served on the Legislative and Water Committees. He was preceded by Robert Appolito (2021-2023), and Charles McKissick (2001-2020).
o Geralyn Kever is currently serving a second full term which expires May 31, 2025. She was appointed to her first full term 2021-23. She has served on the Legislative Committee and Water Committees. Ms. Kever was preceded by Joe Joplin (2003-2021).
