ITEM SUMMARY:
• The UASI program focus is to support state and local efforts to prevent terrorism and other catastrophic events and to prepare the nation for the threats and hazards that pose the greatest risk to our security.
• This project will fund the purchase of a mini-caliber portable Special Weapons and Tactics robot that will be deployed for search and detection operations within the City of McKinney, along with the surrounding agencies we support as needed. This allows for immediate response and exploration of a structure upon receipt of a credible threat while significantly reducing risk to officers; ultimately enhancing our team’s ability to respond to acts of violence or terrorism events.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• The UASI program grant award has been sought annually by the City of McKinney to help prepare for, respond to, and recover from natural, man-made, and technological threats and hazards.

• If awarded, the grant amount is expected to be $70,000.
