RECOMMENDED ACTION:
• Recommend that City Council approve a resolution for construction.
ITEM SUMMARY:
• This proposed trail project will connect the existing Wilson Creek trailhead on the north side of Eldorado Parkway to McKinney Greens parkland. This is a critical connection that will provide a continuous pedestrian connection from this park all the way to our parkland near Lake Forest Drive.
• The proposed project will provide connectivity between Towne Lake and the McKinney Greens parkland and include amenities such as:
o Trail improvements
o Bridge crossings
o Trail overlook
o Site furnishings
• On April 25th, the City of McKinney received bids for this project. Staff will provide an update at the Board meeting.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• LJA Engineering recently completed the design of the trail and improvements.
• In 2019, this project was awarded a $396,000 matching grant from the Collin County Open Space program.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• This project (PK1827) is a FY23-24 Capital Improvements Program funded by MCDC funds and grant monies.
