RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
* Approval of Resolution.

ITEM SUMMARY:
* This Resolution authorizes the City Manager to request the release of approximately 2.2 miles of FM 546 from the state highway system from State Highway 5 to the eastern terminus of the new FM 546 Project (TxDOT CSJ 1013-01-026).

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* FM 546 runs concurrent with Industrial Boulevard for approximately 5,700 feet east of State Highway 5 / McDonald Street, and continues south and east of Industrial Boulevard an additional 5,700 feet prior to the proposed connection with the new alignment of FM 546 currently under construction.
* TxDOT is currently finalizing construction a new alignment of FM 546 from the existing intersection of State Highway 5 and Old Mill Road to approximately 1,000 feet east of Country Lane to connect to the existing FM 546.
* Funding for the final design, land acquisition, and construction of the new alignment of FM 546 was primarily funded by TxDOT with the City only providing a 10% local match for land acquisition ($1,187,276.10) and Regional Toll Revenue local match for construction ($216,937).
* The City of McKinney and TxDOT have previously agreed when the new alignment of FM 546 was constructed, the existing segment of FM 546 to be replaced (including the right-of-way) would be taken off the state highway system and operated/maintain...
