RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
* Approval of the Ordinance

ITEM SUMMARY:
* This Ordinance amends expenditures in the 2020-2021 Budget and the 2021-2025 Capital Improvements Program (CIP) to accept funds from the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) in the amount of $606,863 and appropriating those funds into TR2023, Traffic Signal Detection Upgrades project.
* Traffic signal detection equipment will be furnished by the City for twenty intersections on University Dr. (US 380) from N. Stonebridge Dr. to Airport Dr.
* The TxDOT will reimburse the City 100% for the cost to purchase the traffic signal equipment up to $606,863 for this detection upgrade project.

* This Traffic Signal Detection Upgrades Project is on schedule to be let by TxDOT on May 2021.


BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* A concurrent Resolution authorizes the City Manager to enter into a reimbursement agreement for furnishing traffic signal detection equipment by a municipality with the TxDOT for twenty intersections on University Drive (US 380) from N. Stonebridge Drive to Airport Drive, funded through the Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP).
* That Agreement provides that TxDOT will reimburse the City up to $606,863 for furnishing the traffic signal equipment.
* This Ordinance amends the 2020-2021 Budget and the 2021-2025 CIP to fund the upfront acquisition of the traffic signal equipment.
